Position: Democracy Defenders Organizing Fellow
Location: Michigan
Duration: August–December
Hours: Hours are flexible, however fellows should expect to commit anywhere between 5-10 hours per week
Compensation: The program will be accepting fellows on an unpaid, volunteer-basis
The Michigan Legacy PAC is seeking a cohort of highly-motivated fellows to help launch and run its Democracy Defenders program. The program aims to sustain a legacy of democratic reform through grassroots organizing and community empowerment. Together, we will mobilize our communities to elect pro-democracy candidates, enact pro-voter policies, and educate every citizen about the right and responsibility to vote. This fellowship presents an opportunity to influence democratic initiatives and positively shape the future of our state for generations to come.
Responsibilities:
Identify and engage volunteer leaders in your community to become Democracy Defenders.
Support voter outreach initiatives through maintaining a willingness to organize and host voter registration drives, phone and text banks, and other canvassing or campaign events.
Assist in get-out-the-vote efforts for pro-democracy candidates where applicable.
Contribute to Digital Democracy Defense efforts by combating misinformation and promoting accurate information online, where applicable.
Report directly to the Field Director and participate in regular organizing calls.
Qualifications:
Proven ability to mobilize volunteers and manage outreach efforts.
Previous campaign experience preferred but not required.
Exceptional organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.
Commitment to democratic initiatives, election integrity, and community impact.
Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom.
